ABOUT THE WORK Boitatà (2012-2013) Living in Brazil I created the sculpture of the Boitata', the legendary Brazilian fire serpent. It is made of bicycle air chambers that I sewed together myself, the rubber extracted from the Amazon Forest where the creature belongs. Projeto Boitatà is a multimedia project consisting of a wearable sculpture, a series of seven charcoal drawings on paper, a diptych of photographs, a performance and a video. The video consists in the creature’s appearances in several locations in São Paulo, performed by the Eurythmics dancer Marcia Ferreira, and accompanied by musicians Tek Tek Gerbelier & Spitz with instruments specially developed for the project |
