| Biography | Vaibhav Batra (*1986) is an Indian sound artist, educator and writer, who is passionate about algorithms and machines. When he is not busy experimenting with sound, he teaches a modular synthesis’ crash course in the hills of northern India. His two main compositional tools are modular synthesizers and field recordings. As a proponent of free improvisation, Vaibhav uses them both to create soundscapes that often entice the listener to go within. Much of his artistic practice is inspired by the Deep Listening philosophy of Pauline Oliveros and other seminal artists in the field. To this end, in 2021 he created an interactive web-piece as part of a collaborative online residency, which encourages listeners to enquire about their inner world. |
