| Biography | Roman Bruderer aka Doktor Rotman is a sought-after DJ and percussion teacher living in Zurich. He works with sounds from different cultures and electronic music influenced by the nineties. His bookings range from club parties and festival to urban neighbourhood festivals and DJ sets in theatres or churches. His performances have brought him to towns all across Switzerland, such as Basel, Bern, Fribourg, Le Bourg, Lausanne, Lucerne and Neuchâtel, and to various other coutries in European, North and South American. In an autodidactic process, Roman Bruderer taught himself the basics of traditional West African Malinke rhythms through books, audio and video recordings and perfected his studies in Conakry, Guinea, with master drummers. Further studies took him to Burkina Faso and Gambia, where he deepened his knowledge of West African percussion culture, music and playing technique. He collaborated with Michael Flury Nuborns, Fehr/Troller/Sartorius, Kalabrese & Rumpelorchester, Big Zis, Theaterverein Commedia Adebar and many other artists. Roman Bruder was a teacher at the Musikhochschule Konservatorium Zürich from 2014 to 2019, at the Kantonsschule Gymnasium Im Lee Winterthur from 2020 to 2021, as well as head of project weeks at the Primarschule Limmat A, vicar at the Gymnasium Rämibühl, and at the Jugendmusikschule Limmattal Zürich. |
