| Biography | Nils Mönkemeyer (*1978) is making a name as one of the most internationally successful violists with artistic brilliance and innovative programming, helping the viola to gain enormous attention. Mönkemeyer's programmes range from discoveries and first recordings of original viola literature of the 18th century to modern music and his own arrangements. The most recently released CDs are recordings of Walton, Bruch and Pärt with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra conducted by Markus Poschner. He is a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, where he himself studied with Hariolf Schlichtig. |
