Adam Maor's music is inspired by the reality that surrounds him, both in Israel and in the Middle East, often using electronics to connect his extramusical ideas to the instrumental fabric. Born in Haifa (Israel) in 1983 and currently dividing his time between the Middle East and Switzerland, Maor's work spans from the orchestra to solo pieces, with and without electronics, as well as vocal music and tape music pieces. His chamber opera The Sleeping Thousand, on a libretto by Yonatan Levy, was premiered in the Aix-en-Provence festival in 2019 and received with enthusiasm by audience and critics alike. In 2016 he was awarded the Israeli Prime-Minister Prize of Creation.
