| Program | Marina Rosenfeld, WHITE LINES (2003/2021) |
| Description | Red light filtered by a house plant flickers behind an overlaid pair of animated lines. A trace of smoke from a cigarette seems to hum with static. In Marina Rosenfeld’s WHITE LINES (2003), a trio of video loops shot on Pixelvision or Super8 in late 1990s Los Angeles are both stage and score for a performance of experimental music. Using hand-drawn animation, moving image, sound and instructions for performance, WHITE LINES makes a case for music as a site of collective sociality. For SONIC MATTER’s Swiss premiere, guitarist Samuel Toro Pérez leads an audience through his own reading of Rosenfeld’s speculative work. After the concert performance on Dec. 2, 2021, WHITE LINES will continue as an audiovisual installation up to December 31, 2021. Suitable for people aged 10 and over Free admission, registration required |
