SONIC MATTER_openlab radio feature presents the work of SONANDES.

Large-scale mining in Bolivia began with the arrival of the Spanish crown to Potosí, a territory wich also contains the largest lithium deposit on the planet; the Salar de Thunupa. Lithium mining, needed to develop mobility and connectivity technologies, has a high impact on the future of humanity. We have created a diptych juxtaposing the colonial silver mines with a territory that has not yet suffered from extractivism. It is an approach to deep listening, taking in the worldviews of the local inhabitants, and revealing the economic dynamics of a digitized world.
