Today’s featured radiophonic artworks both deal with assemblages of various interactions of artists and time-relevant themes.

Sarah Washington initiated the CWCH collective as a reflex to the Corona lockdown in 2020. "Edition 15 – Close-Flung" 60’ was part of a collection of 15 radio broadcasts which invited up to thirteen ensemble members to improvise together via the internet on nine independent radio stations in different countries. "Close-Flung" plays on SONIC MATTER_radio every even hour and features a remarkable line-up of artists: Knut Aufermann & Sarah Washington (DE) / Xentos Fray Bentos (UK) / Frauke Berg (DE) / Katharina Bihler & Stefan Scheib (DE) / Dinah Bird (FR) / dieb13 & Billy Roisz (AT) / Lloyd Dunn (CZ) / Anna Friz (CA) / Ralf Schreiber (DE) / Rodrigo Ríos Zunino (CL). Originally broadcast live on July 16, 2020.

Mélia Roger’s (FR/CH) "From ants to mouth noises" 55’12 offers a sonorous journey of her various radiophonic and sound art works from 2017 to 2021, to be heard on every odd hour. Through field recordings making use of close-up microphone techniques the listeners are drawn to delicate details of nature and the non-human world addressing our intimate relation to it. While shifting the focus on the voice, the listener is invited to receive language as a sonic material, looking for translation loops, vocal clones and mouth noises ambiguities.
